What the heck’s Information Architecture?

My Graduate Student girlfriend is always registering us for events (she’s a data viz junkie). Last time it was TEDx Rainier and now it’s World IA Day Seattle. IA stands for Information Architecture. It was my first time hearing the term too. Wiki provides five definitions for IA, my favorite is #3; “An emerging community of practice focused on bringing principles of design and architecture to the digital landscape”. I’m a year into my role as Social Media & Community Coordinator  at Espresso Parts and if there is one thing I have learned it’s that there are always things to learn! So what I have no idea what IA is! I’m super stoked to learn about it! I’m also super stoked to meet new people and share knowledge. If you’re attending World IA Day in Seattle hit me up with your Twitter handle in the comments field! #WIADsea15

March forward!

The last couple of months have been full of ups and downs. I’m single again. I saw T-Pain at The Royal and it was actually good. We celebrated the two year anniversary of Matt & Melissa taking over EP. The #TNTNW at Valhalla Coffee was awesome. Make sure to hit up Marrow the next time you’re in Tacoma. Work has been super busy but extremely awesome at the same time. I feel like I’m constantly learning at Espresso Parts. It feels good. I’ll be getting the internets this week which may or may not translate to more posts. My goal these days is to do at least one post a month. Bike time is here so if you wanna take a ride with me sometime let me know!

Some of my favorite things right now:

Method Coffee Bar They offer multiple roasters and food options. A+
Spotify I love every John Mayer album…I love him.
SPRING!
Paper for Facebook So much nicer to look at than the original app. I like the functionality of the original over Paper.
Sacramento Public Latte Art Tournament SPLAT

The Northwest Coffee Festival 2012.

I’m so very excited to be heading to The Northwest Coffee Festival today. This has become one of my favorite events to work. The festival is a consumer based coffee and food event. A ton of great roasteries and cafes from the area get together for two days to hold talks on the current state of the industry to customer service and serve awesome coffee.

Brewing at Buckhead

Today is the day we get to make coffee for the TEDx Peachtree masses. We’ve been brewing our butts off since eight this morning! It’s been so much fun working with people from Oklahoma, Georgia, Kansas, Missouri and Washington. I’ve had the pleasure of brewing Batdorf  &  Bronson’s Nicaragua Finca San Jose JavaNica with a siphon. Super chocolaty and lots of caramel. The attendees have been loving the coffee and they are asking a lot of great questions. Well I need to get back and prep for the next wave.
